The Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee invite applications for the position of President of Northern Caribbean University (NCU). 

 

NCU is a private, liberal arts institution owned and operated by the Jamaica Union Conference (JAMU) and the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) of Seventh-day Adventists.

 

In addition to its main campus in Mandeville, Jamaica, NCU operates campuses in Kingston, Montego Bay and St. Ann. The university comprises four colleges and one school, offering 30 under-graduate majors, seven master’s and five doctoral programmes in a spiritually wholesome and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. Its enrolment averages 4,300 students from over 30 countries.

The Position

 

The President of Northern Caribbean University serves as the Chief Executive Officer having and exercising overall leadership for the institution. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the president is expected to formulate, articulate and advance a compelling vision consistent with the vision and provide strategic leadership in developing long-term initiatives to accomplish the mission of NCU. The President of Northern Caribbean University serves as the institutional, academic, moral and spiritual leader of the school community.

Kingston Campus Librarian

Northern Caribbean University is an educational institution owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Librarian

 

This position exists on the East Regional Campus, which is located in Kingston.  The librarian will have full knowledge of the operation of an academic library and will be responsible for coordinating all the activities of the facility, including the promotion of the library’s resources; and when requested, representing the institution at professional library organization and association meetings. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance of records of all library holdings and materials at the facility and manage the circulation of general lending, reserve and West Indian collections via the integrated library system.

Experience and Qualification

 

Applicants should have a minimum of four years’ experience in an academic library and be qualified with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science.   Additionally the candidate should be knowledgeable of and committed to the philosophy, principles and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist church in education and give witness to these values in his/ her professional and Christian life; be familiar with the Library of Congress Classification System, and MARC21; possess strong IT, communication and analytical skills; demonstrate experience with bibliographic utilities and integrated library systems, and the  ability to work independently and with others.

Job Summary

The Hiram S. Walters Resource Centre is seeking highly-motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Library Director.  The Director will supervise a staff of thirteen employees in the provision of  a wide range of library services. The position exists on the Mandeville Campus. 

 

Role Expectation

 

As Director of the Library Services you will be privileged to contribute to the academic and strategic goals of the university through the effective management of the library functions which includes service to students, faculty, and staff as the top priority. We will expect you to be responsible for the efficient management and operation of the library; ensure the availability of all resources and empower  clients to utilise the  available resources to meet their needs; create and implement policies and procedures that are in the their  best interests; ensure that the facilities are clean, safe and conducive to research and study.

Qualification and Experience Required

Candidates must be able to teach the theory and practice of translation. Must hold a Master’s or PhD degree in French or a related discipline and have native or near-native competence in French. Demonstrable experience in the teaching of French as a foreign language and of Francophone Culture, at undergraduate level, using a dynamic, communicative approach in a technologically integrated environment. A capacity to facilitate such integration is highly desirable.

College of Allied Health and Nursing 

• Two Nurse Educators 

The incumbents will be required to teach courses at the undergraduate level of the nursing programme in the class room, laboratory and clinical settings. The incumbents will also be required to play an active role in the research agenda of the Nursing Department

Qualification and Experience Required

Master of Science degree in Nursing Education; current registration as a nurse and midwife with the Nursing Council of Jamaica with related clinical experience; at least one year’s teaching experience in a basic nursing education programme and current certification in CPR

Director – Western Regional Campus

The incumbent will give general management of the campus resources & the overall administration of staff, contract personnel and clients.  Acts as a liaison between the main campus and the extension sites for flow of information, supplies and equipment. 

Qualifications and Experience

PhD in Education Administration or Master’s Degree in Education or Management. At least four years managerial experience in an academic institution.
