Job Summary
This
position exists within the Department of Communication Studies and reports to
the Chair. The incumbents will be required to:
·
deliver courses
at the undergraduate level;
·
advise and
guide students;
·
participate in
curricula and course development;
·
conduct student
evaluation; and
·
play an active
role in the research agenda and the strategic direction of the Communication
Studies Department.
·
Engage students in experiential learning
as guided by the Department Chair
Qualification
and Experience
Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree or Doctoral degree from an accredited university and practical experience in the area of media and/or communication.

excellent oral and written communication skills;

be able to
teach classes in some or all of the following
areas: Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, oral and written
communication, Radio and Television.

team-building and resourcefulness to establish and maintain collaborative,
positive, and effective working relationships with students and colleagues;

be actively
concerned for students' spiritual as well as academic welfare, and feel
responsible to assist them in the pursuit of worthy goals; and
·
be
knowledgeable of and committed to the philosophy, principles and mission of the
Seventh-day Adventist Church in education and give witness to these values in
his/ her professional and Christian life.

Literature.

The teaching load for a
lectureship is 3-5 courses per semester. The candidate must be able to teach
both core and elective courses. This is primarily a teaching position, but
research output is necessary for subsequent renewal and promotion.
Academic Qualification:
At least the MA or MPhil

leadership/administration/management

Willingness to participate in the general
administration of the Department.

of Behavioural Sciences

Two Lecturers in Social Work
Job Summary
Contribute to
the delivery of teaching of appropriate social work modules to undergraduates
ensuring that students have the opportunity to be engaged and challenged.
- Development of syllabus and
learning materials as appropriate, in accordance with University policy
and processes.
- Design the appropriate assessment
methods and complete marking assignments ensuring standards are maintained
and timescales adhered to.
- Contribute to the enriching of the
student experience by ensuring support and guidance is provided to
students.
- Engage in research and scholarship
activity including publication and application for research funding.
Qualification and Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of a Master’s in Social
Work with at least three years of experience teaching at the undergraduate
level.
The Ideal Candidate Should
- Experience in practice teaching and
relevant experience in training
- Evidence of scholarly activity in
social work and ability to undertake research; research activity in social
work;
- Recent practice experience;

Experience in managing resources or
coordinating teaching and learning
The incumbent must also have the ability to represent
the University professionally and attractively to the public, generate good
human relations with and among the workforce, and be well acquainted with, the
practice the policies of the University and the Seventh-day Adventist
denominational standards, be knowledgeable of, and committed to the philosophy,
principles and mission of the Seventh day Adventist Church, and give witness to
these values in his/her professional and Christian life.
